"Mni Wiconi",  is part of the series Elements and Icons by Lakota Artist Rachel Berg that utilizes symbols to create strong, graphic imagery linked to the Indigenous Values that imbue those symbols. In the digital age, we are pushed more and more toward immediacy and imagery over the written, spoken word, prayer, and gratitude. In this quickness we often overlook those things that are most important. These works juxtapose the idea of the “Icon” as deity like Jesus in western art and the “icon” as computer and phone apps.
