Robert Kushner participated in the early development of the Pattern and Decoration Movement in the 1970s, and is known for championing a decorative style of painting. Artisanal objects the artist discovered in his travels abroad—particularly Japanese screen doors, Islamic patterns, and Uzbekistani embroideries—strongly affected the development of his organic plant forms, grid-based compositions, and use of bold colors and gold leaf. This poster was a part of those produced in partnership with Lincoln Center & Vera List Art Project. Lincoln Center Editions is a component of the Vera List Art Project, which was launched at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in 1962 by philanthropist and art collector, Vera List. In particular, her vision and commitment helped to develop Lincoln Center into a true intersection of the arts, both visual and performance.
